The Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) is a 90-question, computer-based exam administered at Pearson VUE centers. Passing it earns the CPhT credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

You’ll need a high school diploma or GED, and one of two paths: completion of a recognized pharmacy technician training program, or the required hours of work experience as a pharmacy technician (per current PTCB eligibility rules).

The PTCE is scored on a scaled pass/fail basis. You’ll see a pass or fail result at the test center; scaled scores are reported for candidates who do not pass.
